Water damage to your basement and contents may not be covered even if you have the Sump-Pump backup endorsement!  One of the main requirements in order for this endorsement to provide protection is that you must have a sump-pump installed!

Basement water damage can often be prevented by simply installing or replacing a sump pump.  Some homes may require a back up due to loss of power or a double up (staggered) system due to the amount of ground water in their area.  Most often the water comes from rainfall or melting snow.  For every inch of rain the average roof sheds 1,000 Gallons (3,784.5 Litres) of water.  

Flooding and condensation inside the walls can cause damage to mechanical systems such as electrical panels and main plumbing; flooring, drywall and framing; and contents in the basement. Average costs of flooding is around $10,000 per household, not including the inconvenience and affect it may have on one's time and health.
